What if every week you place a stationery order for you business? Pens, paper, staples and so on. And what if every week when that stationery order arrived you were only delivered 10% of what you'd paid for? Wouldn't you want to track down what was going on? Well, the same principle applies to your website, even if you're not directly selling online. After all, what if the overall cost of your website is more than its worth to your business? Unless you're measuring what is going on, it could be that week after week, you're only being delivered 10% of the business that you're paying for. But I'm not online to make money, it's just for general brand awareness Surely if you just have a brochure site or an information site, you don't need to worry about measuring? The site is just about letting people know you are there, right? Wrong For what is the ultimate point of generating that awareness? There is still an action attached to it somewhere - be it a phone call, an invitation to quote, a sale a year down the line. It's the reason your business exists. Whatever it is that you want people to do once they have awareness of your business. That's what you need to measure. Measuring lets you decide if the benefits you receive from your website justify the price you are paying. Because every website has a cost, even if it is just in terms of time. Measuring sounds difficult Measuring is about ensuring that you are achieving success outcomes that are worth more than you're paying for them. It will show you if the money you are spending on your website and marketing is making you richer or poorer as a result. Measuring doesn't have to be difficult and there are plenty of tools out there. Web analytics software, Excel spreadsheets, even just an old fashioned calculator will help. But tools alone can't tell you the answers. Measuring does require some thinking on your part. Your brain is the most important measurement tool there is To get started, think about how much a successful outcome is worth to you. And it doesn't just have to be sales. Newsletter sign-ups have a value, so do phone inquiries or speaking engagements. The important thing is to give the success outcome a cash value, even if it doesn't have a specific price attached to it. For example, you may decide a newsletter sign up is worth Ј50. From then on, its pretty clear that you don't want to be spending more than Ј49.99 to achieve that sign up. Also keep a note of how people heard about you. Online this can sometimes be tracked automatically. But offline the chances are you'll need to ask. You may discover, for example, that 25% of your phone enquirers saw your website prior to calling. Once you can measure that and assign a rough monetary value to those calls, you'll soon be able to judge if the website is a cash cow or a money pit. Website measurement is not just for businesses that sell directly online By measuring, you can ensure your website is earning its keep. And that applies to any organization spending money, time and energy on their website. If the evidence shows that the website isn't shaping up, you have the choice of fixing it or dumping it. Either option beats continuing in the dark week after week. No more putting up with only 10% of the business that you're paying for. Just like you'd track down those mysteriously elusive pens, pencils and staples, website measurement means you can track down that missing website business too.

Using video to draw business on the web
It has been proven in the United States that there are more broadband internet users compared to dial-up. That being the case, media that requires high bandwidth is now more readily available to anyone who wants to download it. A medium that is still relatively new is using video presentations to market your products and services. While photos do provide a potential customer a view of the product or service at hand, video commands much more attention. It delivers a multimedia experience to the viewer that demands attention. Also, the power of a moving image with audio over plain text is indisputable. However, certain things are appropriate for video while others are not. A very good use of video on the internet would be to sell real estate. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but you can’t exactly walk through a house via photos alone. Video will allow the potential home buyer to tour the home before they visit to pique interest. A use of video that would not work would be something that would not help sell the product at all. For example, if you were selling paint, using video would not enhance a paint’s color or texture. A photo would be much more appropriate. If you are selling a product on the internet, explore ways to use video to show off your product or show people how to do things with your product. Encoding the video into Flash will make the video easily viewed by almost everybody online. It is important, though, that you pay attention to the quality of the production. While the video has a lot of power, it can work against you if the video looks amateur. In the very near future, internet and television will not have any separation. As of now, major providers of services are offering plans that physically deliver television through the internet. This is an untapped medium for advertising that is sure to be a big hit.

Hey contractors here s how determine what the market is willing pay for your services
If you read my report The 10 Biggest Mistakes Contractors Make, you should remember that Mistake #9 was pricing your work too cheap. Today, I’m going to show you how to systematically determine the price your prospect is willing to pay based on the service you are offering, the characteristics of the project, and the type of client you are pitching to. Most contractors are CONVINCED they know what their market is willing to pay. Yet, when I get the opportunity to analyze their data collection systems, I discover there is a glaring hole in their information. There is no possible way they could really know the best price to offer a prospect. I see the same problem when looking into contractors’ job costing systems. Most simply do not collect enough data to know how their costs vary by project type and size (Mistake #6). Raising Prices is the Fastest Way to Juice Your Bottom Line The two main reasons contractors offer low prices are: 1. They are afraid they will lose the job. 2. They don’t have hard data to guide their pricing decisions. Fixing the second problem usually eliminates the first. Hard data on past performance combined with ongoing monitoring gives you the confidence to offer higher prices. So let’s get your data collection started. Your goal is to track your market’s willingness to pay for your services. The more detail you track, the more refined and exacting your price guidelines will be. The more detail you track, the more money you will make. Start by copying each proposal and writing down the estimated cost, physical job size, type of services being offered, type of client, client status, and lead source. For client type, note whether you are pitching to a residential, commercial, building owner / operator, property manager, retail space, office building, general contractor, subcontractor, industrial, institutional, or other. For client status, note whether you are pitching to a new customer, existing customer, or referral. Note the lead source. For project size, find an indicator that makes sense for your trade. Areas (e. g. square feet) or volumes (e. g. cubic yards) are the most common. Set up a spreadsheet to capture your data (I have one if need it). Create a column for each data item. Put in columns for the proposal number and name of the project or client. Include a column for proposal status (won, loss, open, budget). Include a column for proposal date. Enter each proposal on a single line in the spreadsheet. Often the best way to get the data into the spreadsheet is to hand the stack of proposals to someone and have them enter the data all at once. Weekly data entry is pretty typical. After you have captured a large set of data you can analyze it and see where your prices need to be. If you crank out a lot of proposals, you may collect enough data in three or four months. If you only create a few hundred proposals a year, it could take more than a year to collect enough data for your conclusions to be valid. Now for the fun part - analyzing your pricing success. When looking for the price guidance, sort and filter your data by work type, client type, job size. Look for visual indication that you’ve found a legitimate and logical trend. Focus on win rates. Do you win 1 out of 5, 1 out of 2, or 1 out of 3? You want to know what mark-up produced the right amount of success. You are looking for success between 25% and 40% depending on job size. The smaller the job, the higher the success rate. The larger the job, the lower the success rate. Competition intensifies with larger jobs. Everybody wants them. Assume that the higher the price of the job, the less mark-up you’re going to get. Almost all buyers become more price sensitive as the total price goes up. Look for validation of that in your data. Price Sensitivity Varies Greatly With the Type of Client You Are Pitching To. Residential customers tend to be the most price sensitive and industrial the least. Always remember the Other People’s Money syndrome. When your prospects are spending someone else’s money, they are almost always less price sensitive than the owner of the money. Use Your Data to Guide Your Price Offers By throwing your data into spreadsheets, graphs and tables, you should be able to create price guidelines for your company. The guidelines will apply as "All things being equal, for this type of job, this size of job, and this type of client, this is the price we ought to be able to win a third of the time." I wish I could give you an exact three step procedure for reaching your conclusions but the truth is that you are often going to have to play with the data before the message becomes loud and clear. Once you have established the standard price to offer, carefully consider the prospect standing across from you. If you happen to be selling to someone who appears to be less concerned with money than other people in his position, then use a higher mark-up. How do you know that he or she might be willing to go higher than normal? Use your sales questions. Those questions will give the prospect a chance to show that their concerns may be over things that have little to do with price. If you are visiting with someone who appears to be extremely price conscious, then offer a lower price than the guidelines recommend, assuming you want the work at that price. Bear in mind that if your data shows a normal client would pay more for the work your prospect may be a bad client (Mistake #2). You want to be winning around 25% of the larger jobs you go after and you certainly don’t want to be winning more than 40% of the smaller ones. If you are winning more than 40% of the offers you extend, in any category, you are either the most masterful qualifier of prospects, or you are grossly under - priced. In my experience with contractors, it’s the latter...and that they are leaving a lot of money on the table!

Home business opportunities and your future
There are more home business opportunities each year that may interest you and can help you have the business that you have always dreamed off. Many home businesses are started out of necessity, while others are started out of desire. Whether you are laid off and decide to start your own business or you are tired of having to answer to someone else and would like to be your own boss, you can start your own business and be successful at it. Many of your previous jobs can help you in your new business ventures. Whether you were in marketing, finance or public relations, you will find that specific aspects of your old job will help to establish a better business once you have started your own home business opportunity. Before you begin a business, you may want to consider your skills and the type of job that you would like to perform in the future. Trying something new may be fun and exciting but you may find that it does not last long or is something that you need more training for. If you are still interested in working at a new skill, then you may want to see if there are classes in your area that will help you further your education in that area, or consider speaking with others who have businesses that are closely related to yours. Doing research in the area that you are considering working in can help to clear up any misinformation that you may have and help you to learn any laws or rules that are in place to regulate your company. Jumping in to a new business with out proper research can cause you legal problems in the future. Also reviewing articles and ads for other businesses can help you decide which direction you would like to go with your company and give you ideas that you may or may not want to implement in your own business. Remember once you have started your business not to take on too much at once. Being overwhelmed can cause you to want to give up quickly. You may want to only take on a few customers until you feel confident that you will be able to handle all of the aspects of your business. If you do feel that you are overwhelmed, you may want to consider taking on a business partner or hiring someone temporarily until you can manage things yourself. Finding a partner that is like minded, but has skills in other areas than you can help to make the business run smoothly. As you start your business remember that it is a learning process. You may find that you enjoy certain aspects of the job while not others. Consider dropping the aspects that you do not enjoy, if feasible. Enjoying your job is just as important as the making money aspect is. You will find times that you do not want to continue in your business, but do not give up, things will get easier as time progresses.

Glamour photography
There are many people as well as photographers who might find any difference between glamour or fashion photography. Although they are similar in certain aspects, but glamour photography is about photographing a model to bring out certain key aspects of the subject and is not for endorsement purposes. The standards of this area of photography have changed over the time and today it reflects changes in social morals. In the early 1920s, photographers from the US like Ruth Harriet Louise took pictures of celebrities to add glamour to their stature. During the World War II, glamour took another form and was displayed in the form of pin-ups of scantily clad movie stars. This was extremely among US soldiers. The most important change came through Playboy, which was the first magazine instrumental in giving a new name to glamour photography. This was the first magazine to focus on nude models and its target was the mainstream consumer. Hugh Hefner published the first issue of Playboy in December 1953 with Marilyn Monroe on the cover. Nude photos of Monroe were printed in the inside, which enhanced her image and also subdued the public outcry. Off late several popular glamour magazines have started to reverse the trend by focusing more on glamor and less on nudity. Some of these magazines include Maxim, and FHM. Photography of models has been through transition over the years and as a photographer you need to possess the knowledge of these transitions before you can step into the professional world. As a glamour photographer, there are certain key aspects that you need to master and understand. You need to understand that the sharpness of your models eyes is very critical. As a beginner with auto-focus cameras, most budding glamour photographers tend to focus on the nose, chin or shoulder. The important lesson here is learning how to focus on the subject or models eyes while shooting. This is an emerging problem with photographers using auto-focus cameras. The auto focus camera focuses on the center of the image by default. Focusing starts first with finding your subjects eyes in the frame. Once this is done, you should ideally depress the shutter-release button slightly, hold the focus steady, compose the subject in the frame and push the shutter-release button to take the photo. This technique can be quite slow in the beginning but once you develop an understanding and a feel for it, you’ll always find subject’s eyes in focus. One of the second most important elements of glamour photography is the background. It is the second most important visual element after the subject. If you don’t have the right background then no amount of make-up and clothes can get you a good picture. As a glamor photographer, you should not ignore these elements as they are very crucial for getting the right image. You need to be aware of the background and should be able to foresee how it will look or appear in the final photograph. Some of the best backgrounds to shoot in include natural surroundings, your back and front yard, a bathtub, studio, beach and even inside the home. You can always start by experimenting to find the right combination of elements.

Spy sun glasses quality sunglasses and great styles
In recent years a certain brand of specs has become very popular and you will see them anywhere that you shop for sunglasses. Spy sun glasses are the new trend in the industry. With movies like Mission Impossible and others that have made this trend more popular than ever, who better to buy them from than the company with the same name? Who doesn’t want to look like a movie star when they are protecting themselves from harmful rays? The fad is in full force and seems as though it is here to stay after years of hanging on in both the men’s and women’s styles. If you appreciate the look and you would like a quality pair, chances are you will really enjoy them and be able to use them for years to come. The problem with Spy sun glasses is that they can be quite costly if you want to buy a quality product. If you walk into a retailer in the mall, you will generally find that these specs can cost one hundred dollars or more, and are simply out of the price range of most people. Instead of settling for less than you wanted in a pair of great sunglasses, you simply need to find a new source for the pair that you want. Of course, this doesn’t mean that you need to buy an imitation pair that you want, although that is always a possibility. The problem with imitation pairs is that they usually fall apart well before their time. The idea is to find a wholesaler or other source that can offer you new and high quality Spy sun glasses for a reasonable price. Sound impossible? You might be surprised at how simple it can be to find the pair that you want for the price that is right. You may have to invest a little bit more time into finding the pair as well as the source, but if there is a pair that you really wanted you can make it happen. If you have been searching high and low for the Spy sun glasses product that you would most like to own and you cannot seem to find them for a reasonable price, visit technical-gear. Crucial factors to consider when choosing a plr membership
When you are at all into internet marketing, chances are that you have put some thought into choosing a Private Label Rights membership site, although you may not know just how to go about doing so. It is all too easy to go about just choosing any old PLR site and deciding to submit your information for Private Label Rights membership, but just as it is with any other project it is important to know that not every PLR site is the same. First of all, it is important to know just what a private label rights membership is. Private label rights membership sites give you access to content that has private label rights attached to it. The catch is that you get the opportunity to modify the content that you gain access to and make a profit for it. Good, rich content from private label rights membership is one of the best ways to make money on the web and without that rich web content it is difficult to gain any internet traffic at all, making it rather difficult to make a tidy sum by managing your site like you would probably like to. Of course, not everybody is an effective writer. In this case, private label rights memberships are the way to go. Let’s face it: not everybody has those skills, but private label rights membership sites give people the opportunity to gain access to content that can help make their content much easier to come by. Rewriting or modifying PLR articles to make original content is a great way to save some money on web content, and many people can do that even though they may not be able to write great keyword rich articles otherwise. Just as any other product out on the market, every PLR membership site is not as good as the next PLR membership site, and there are certain factors that any internet marketer, aspiring or otherwise, should take into consideration before paying any money for a private label rights membership. How Widely Will My PLR Content Be Distributed? While some PLR sites restrict the number of times that their content can be distributed to a mere few, still others disperse content to just about anybody who asks for it. This is not the best thing to do, as it makes the likelihood of duplicate content penalties even more likely and that is never good for you. As an internet marketer you have to protect your search engine rankings as vigorously as you can, and you should keep this in mind when choosing a private label rights membership site. Just because a PLR site has hundreds of members does not mean that they distribute the same content to all of those members, but you are goi8ng to have to read their terms and perhaps even contact the private label rights membership site administrator to find out for sure. Can You Obtain Niche Content from The PLR Membership Site? Private label rights membership sites go about various ways of distributing their content while others just distribute it in any manner they deem the most fitting. Your best bet is to find a PLR membership site that distributes content in a particular niche, so that you can rest assured that the content you are getting is relevant to the site you are working on. Some people have many niche sites, so the content subject matters less than for those who manage just a few sites and need particular content on skin care, aging, pets, or health. A good private label rights membership site maintains niche related content and limits the number of times that a certain site of private label rights content can be distributed. How Often Is Content Updated? While there are a lot of private label rights membership sites out there, not all of them keep their content updated. Some of these sites tend to recycle content time after time, and while that may not always present a problem a good internet marketer wants as original content as they can possibly have. For this reason it is important to make sure that the private label rights membership site out there updates their content and gets new content in daily. A good way to tell this for sure is to see whether or not they allow you to subscribe for new packages. If they are willing to send you PLR packages on a consistent basis, chances are that their content is updated a lot more often than many of the sites that require that you visit the site homepage to request more content. If content is updated on a consistent basis, it is much easier to have a consistent working relationship with your PLR membership site, making life much easier for you in the end. If you belong to one private label rights membership site, you should not have to belong to another one. If you are unable to get everything that you need in one private label rights membership site then they are probably not the site that you want to invest your money into and risk having unoriginal content. Private label rights content is a great way to make some extra cash using the internet without having to go through the pains and strains of creating original content for yourself, but just as it is with any other service there are things to consider that you should keep in mind. Make a good choice in PLR sites and you will see the dollars flowing in from the rich, original content you have placed on your site.

Finding hot selling products to sell
In order to locate products that sell online, we need to understand what people already want to buy. Finding a good choice of idea or product is always accompanied by interfacing the demand for the product in the current market and the level of competition or market share that the product will be having in the long run. “What should I sell? What products are hot selling? These are the questions most people are trying to find an answer in order for them to make the definite decision. And if we really want to know the answer to this question, our only choice is to do some research. There are all kinds of twists along the road that may lead you to think you have a high-demand idea. We must be able to understand and satisfy the need, wants and expectations of our customers on a certain product that they’re trying to buy. This three are called the basic needs or minimum requirements in a purchase. Needs are the basic reasons or the minimum requirements consumers are looking for in a product or service. They are called the qualifying or “gatekeeper” dimensions in a purchase. Wants are the determining dimensions among many choices. Expectations, on the other hand, are values or intangibles associated with a product or service. Expectations are actually part of “wants” but they become extremely important when products or services are not differentiated. For example, in reading a logic book, university students look for the following: Relevant logic concepts use of simple language, easy to understand and affordable prices. These similar ideas can be applied to Internet Sales as well. After all, the Internet is just another place to sell products. The basic concept of demand is the same there as it is anywhere else, and has been all the time. Now, the second thing that must be considered in finding “hot” products to sell are the level of competition or the market shares do your product will have. Market share or level of competition means the ratio of your brand sales versus the total market sales. While companies would naturally define its target competitors, it is actually the consumers who ultimately decide the competitive frame, or the list related products or services that consumers consider when exercising their purchasing power. We must therefore choose the market segment where we can have a potential leadership or at least a strong challenger role. Because the overriding objective of getting into this business is not just to satisfy the needs and wants of our customers but to do so profitably better than his competition. Otherwise, our competition will end up satisfying the customers better than our own interest. Third factor to be considered in finding hot selling products is finding out the general interest level about the product. General interest in a product helps us to gauge where our demand and competition numbers fall into the big picture. Simply saying, if there isn’t much demand for the product, and there isn’t much competition, it would seem that it might not be good a good put up for sale. But the research doesn’t stop here; there is one last thing to be considered to exactly find the hot selling products that you’ve been looking for. We must also learn how others are advertising those products. If there are a good number of them doing so, it may mean that it’s a good product to get intoing to the last phase of the process is analyzing and evaluating all the information that has been collected. We have to look at all of the data we have collected on demand, competition, and advertising, and make decision as how they all balance out. And here are several factors or aspects that must be measured: (a) not enough demand means not enough people are going to buy (b) too much competition means not enough of a profit to go around (c) too much advertising drives up the price of pay per click ads, and competition as well (d) not enough general interest, combined with low demand, means there may not be a good market even if there is competition trying to make the sales.

Seo anchor text and headings
There has been a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy that has been largely ignored. It may even be considered a minor element in the scheme of SEO techniques. Most if us have visited websites with anchor text (hyper links) to third-party sites with more information. In the world of HTML you can hide the website address and include descriptive words to assist visitors in making a determination about the value of visiting the anchor text link. In many cases you will find the common strategy that is used has no SEO function. NEGATIVE EXAMPLE To find out more CLICK HERE. In this scenario the link is on the words “CLICK HERE”. While this might make sense to the reader it does absolutely nothing for search engines that are interested in the keywords associated with the anchor text link. POSITIVE EXAMPLE IMPORTED MOTHBALLS are making a comeback. The reason this is better is that most Internet users understand that colored or underlined text is an anchor text link. While this is important to note, a better reason would be that search engines now have the capability of indexing the key phrase IMPORTED MOTHBALLS. The use of search engine friendly anchor text statements can be important to the overall site ranking for your specific business site. This strategy is just one of many that can help you make the greatest impact when marketing your site through SEO Strategies. One more tip that might help you place more prominently in the site rankings has to do with headings and subheadings on your web pages. Many search engines pay particular attention to the headings on the web page. You can find creative ways to incorporate primary keywords or phrases in the first three headings on a page. These are the headings search engines will evaluate for search engine rankings. For the visitor you can make the site easier to scan using bullet points and headings. Many online visitors will not read every single word you place on your website, but they will look for visual clues as to how relevant the information might be. For search engines headings will be key locations for evaluation. In this case what is good for the site visitor is also good for the search engine. By taking the time to incorporate what may seem like small steps you may end up with improved site rankings. By making these tips a habit you can move on to other SEO strategies that can further help you make the most significant impact on the web.

Vitamin baskets
You can find many different types of unique home business opportunities in the wellness market. One big money item for the wellness market is the various vitamins that people are using for nutritional supplements. You can take advantage of this market by creating unique home business vitamin baskets. Baskets of all sorts are very popular on the market today. You can start unique home business vitamin baskets for very low start up costs. In no time you should be able to recover your initial investment and be making a substantial profit. One of the best places to market these baskets for your home business is on the internet. You can create one or two sample baskets to take photos of for advertising. Then as your customers begin ordering the baskets, you can make each one. This will significantly lower the cost of starting the home business. Another advantage to creating the vitamin baskets as your customers order them from the internet is payment. The customer will have already paid for the basket. You can then use that money to make the basket and ship it. This means that you are not forced to come up with a lot of money to start this type of home business. One great place to use the internet is the internet auction sites. You can use your sample basket photos to list multiple vitamin baskets auctions. As the auctions are bid on and people pay for the orders, you will be in a lucrative home business. Many auction sites only charge a small fee to set up the auction. It is important to know how much shipping to charge for the vitamin baskets. You should take several to the post office and get them weighed. This will let you know roughly how much to charge your customers. But remember that in many instances you can deduct shipping and handling charges from your end of the year taxes. One way to attract more customers is to offer free shipping and handling. It is not really costing you that much money since these counts as a business expense. The baskets should be fairly light weight since they will primarily have vitamins in them. Customers that do not have to pay shipping and handling are more likely to order from you. Not only that, they are more likely to repeat their orders which will help your business to grow substantially and very quickly. You can also set up an ecommerce site for your home business. There are some that are pre-made that you purchase and put in your vitamin baskets as the product. Others are blank and you may need a programmer to set the site up for you. Ecommerce sites for the wellness industry are very popular and do extremely well. Once you have your ecommerce site set up, you might also want to sell media that fits the vitamin and nutritional supplement theme. You can sell DVDs, ebooks, tapes, videos, and more that are related to nutrition and vitamins. Establishing unique home business vitamin baskets is a way to have a very profitable income in the wellness industry. You provide people with a popular product and in a way that they can give as gifts to others or even purchase for themselves. The internet is the biggest market for this type of home business and getting started is fairly simple.

The polite angler
An oxymoron is when two opposing words are combined together to create an idea. Phrases like "jumbo shrimp" or "genuine imitation", illustrate the idea. To some people, who still think of fishing as a hillbilly, redneck pastime, "fishing etiquette" may be an oxymoron. Yet more and more men, women and children are finding their involvement with the world of fishing to be more enjoyable when they use polite behavior on their angling adventure. How does one going about being a polite fisherman? Preserve the Land Make sure you know the land, pond or dock you are fishing on is acceptable to fishing and not private property. As inviting as a patch of grass by a pond may appear, if there is a sign marking it "private property", its better to leave it alone. A fishing license will not cover you if you are caught fishing in a restricted area. Also remember if you dig for worms, to put the earth back where you got it. Don't just leave holes in the area near the water. Be considerate of the land around you. Make sure to leave enough space between you and your neighbors. They came to the great outdoors to get away just like you did! Don't ruin their peace with your own issues and camping gear. Make sure to take trash bags with you and do not leave any litter behind. Leaving your fishing hole exactly the way you found it is a way to be good to others and to the land. Preserve the Fish Make sure to follow the fishing rules set out by the local magistrate. Follow the area's conservation policies, particularly catch and release regulations. Make sure to use hooks with no barbs so it does less damage to the fish and is easier for you to remove. The longer a fish is out of the water, the more stress and harm it sustains. If possible remove the hook from the fish while it is still in the water and let it swim far away before casting in its general direction. Always follow the limits allowed by the fish and game department and make sure not to throw or leave anything in the water or on the shore. Polluting a fishing hole takes to fun away from everyone. Compete with Class Competition fishing has become a popular past-time of late. Be sure if you are part of a fishing competition, whether a personal one or an organized event, that you use humane ways of making a decision for a winner. The two most popular methods are measure and release where a fish is measured and points are given by the inch/cm, and weigh and release where points are given by the pound. Be sure that the fish is not out of the water for more than 30 second in either situation. Fish often hurt themselves in the struggle to get away. Use qualified people to weigh or measure the fish and record the results. Fishing is a much a sport for ladies and gentlemen as croquette or lawn tennis. With a little attention to surroundings, others and the sport itself, fisherman can feel right at home with the mannerly among us.
Blog marketing miracles how to bring sales to your business through a weblog
An increasing number of business entities are actively using blogs as part of their marketing strategy. Why? Blogging is providing them the ability to connect with their audience thus encouraging goodwill which in turn helps bring sales. Marketing through Blogging It is nothing you have not heard for quite some time now. Blogging has caused quite a stir. It has, in fact, continued to proliferate rapidly. In early days, a blog is just a personal online diary. It is a place to publish one’s thoughts, to collect and share things that one finds interesting. It is a venue to express one’s rants, raves and musings. Today, professional and amateur journalists, political pundits, business honchos, entertainers, everybody seems to be blogging. Blogs are now being used to promote a business, run a political campaign, elicit publicity, among others. A blog or weblog is an online diary of events arranged in reverse chronological order. The author of a blog is known as a blogger and writing or maintaining a blog is referred to as blogging. An individual entry or article is called a post and is available in the form of a blog page for the public to read. A blog may have a commentary box for readers to leave comments or opinions. These comments act as stimulus for further conversations. A business or corporate blog is simply a blog about a specific business. It is an effective medium for communicating with current and potential customers to share knowledge and expertise and foster relationships. A company that employs a well-planned blogging strategy can spur significant market gains and sales earnings. Marketing is not just promoting a product or service. More importantly, it is about understanding the needs and wants of customers and developing products or services that satisfy these needs and wants effectively. A blog enables a company to reach out to current and potential customers, in a more personal way. A blog builds connection and links between the company and its key audience which helps the company use this network over time to improve overall business. A business blog especially if regularly updated can inform readers about a company product or service, information, industry news, tips, tutorials or company developments. Links to industry-related stories can also be found in a blog. The way the targeted audience responds to these information or content is important to any company. A blog is a good venue for customers to air issues, concerns and give comments. Through a blog, customers can give their own inputs. A company can hear directly from customers and understand what they desire to get from a product or service. Sometimes, the most well-intentioned product under perform because of lack of customer feedback. With blogging, a company can ask for feedbacks, albeit not the whole world, but at least the blogging community. Once a company has insights into what a large community thinks of the product or service, the company can then further improve the product or service to meet customer requirements. After all, customer satisfaction is of utmost importance. A company who listens and responds to customer feedbacks conveys the message that there is somebody who listens behind an otherwise faceless company. Because a blog is conversational, it gives the company a human voice. This assures customers that there is a “real” person who will take care of their needs. Customers will feel an affinity with the company. Regular visits brought about by regular updates thru fresh blog entries will familiarize the customers with the company and make them feel that they personally know the company. In due time, trust and loyalty is built and relationships fostered. As we all know people generally buy products or avail the services of people they know and trust. Rest assure that return visits to the blog, maybe for more information will transpire even after a purchase has been made. As they say, customer loyalty is the end-all-be-all of marketing. A company that utilizes customer ideas, feedbacks, and opinions can further satisfy customer needs and wants and thus facilitates goodwill in the blogging community. It is standard practice in blogging to provide a link to a thought originator which is important because backlinks are a method for search engines to rank a blog. Search engine ranking is very important. Google and Yahoo are two of the most popular search engines. A blog is typically written daily thus the blog post is new. The search engines index the new post more often than the regular website. The result is a high rank compared to a website. If a company has a product to promote and publishes blog posts about the product regularly, chances are one of the blog posts will be found by readers who may be looking for information about the product. Hopefully, after reading the blog post, the potential customer will visit the company website and make a purchase online or buy the product in a “brick and mortar” store. Marketers acknowledge that potential customers can be customers once they find the information they want about a product from the company’s blog. Another feature of a blog why search engines love it is a blog’s high number of incoming links. Bloggers link to other blogs, articles and websites. The reading audience is exposed to a plethora of information. Bloggers, thus, create and retain a loyal following of readers. PageRanks for blogs are usually very strong too. As you and I know, high search engine ranking translates to high traffic and more sales leads. Generating Sales from Blogging The way to get the most from blogging is by building a strong brand. A brand is simply value for the customer. It is good customer service and products or services that will satisfy customer needs and wants. A blog can help a company demonstrates its expertise in its industry or field. Blogs do create buzz about a company’s authority in its niche. A blog connects a company to its target audience and peers and starts a more dynamic conversation with the marketplace. A blog helps to show a company’s value, its online brand on the web. Once a company has built a strong brand, sales will just follow. Publishing a blog will not automatically generate higher sales. However, it is an efficient way to communicate with customers and prospects. A blog in itself is an excellent tool to support a business, provide value, build relationships and establish brand and image. The ultimate purpose of a blog is to brand, to communicate and to connect. Increased sales should only be viewed as a positive indirect effect of a successful blog.
The low down on cascading style sheets
CSS has been around for more than 10 years already beginning in its development in 1997 but it seems it has been in the public consciousness for only a relatively short time. The reason for this is because it wasn’t until the year 2000 that many web browsers began using the capabilities of CSS beyond its more basic color and font characteristics. Of course things are way different now and virtually all modern day browsers feature support for all CSS Level 1 aspects, many aspects of CSS Level 2 and some web browsers have even gone beyond that to support some of the capabilities of CSS Level 3. Indeed, it is rarely that you find a web site nowadays that does not utilize some form of CSS in their design and development. For better or worse, web sites that rely solely on HTML are quickly going the way of the dinosaur. May industry pundits as well as end users have even gone so far as to consider a thorough knowledge of CSS as being far more necessary than a thorough knowledge of HTML. While in truth they are both equally important and will continue to be an important facet of the web for many years to come, there is no denying the widespread impact that CSS has brought upon the World Wide Web. CSS was originally developed as a means by which web developers could define both the look and the feel of their web pages. With its inception, web designers were now able to treat content and design as two separate entities, thereby allowing HTML to function more in accord with its intended purpose, which was to focus on the markup of a particular web site’s content and leaving the responsibility of the design and layout to CSS. The term CSS itself is an abbreviation for Cascading Style Sheet. The style sheet in this particular instance refers to the document itself. The concept of style sheets itself is nothing new; designers have used them in their documents for many years. Strictly speaking, style sheets are the set of technical specifications that govern a particular layout, whether it is online or on print. The purpose of these of course is to ensure that any subsequent designs will conform to the predetermined specifications upon printing. This concept can be translated easily enough to the World Wide Web only in this particular case, Cascading Style Sheets not only determine the technical specifications of a particular document on the web but also has the added function of communicating to the viewing vehicle (in this case the web browser that the end user is using to surf the Internet) exactly how the document that is being viewed is to be rendered. One of the most important things to remember in all of this is the key word Cascade. Much like a stream of water running of a cliff or elevated area comes into direct contact with the rocks and soil that line the full course of the incline, yet is ultimately only affected in terms of its final destination by the land elements at the end of the slope, Cascading Style Sheets by their very nature flows or cascades through any number of separate style sheets. To follow the stream of water analogy even further, the appearance of a particular web site is ultimately dependent upon the user agent style sheet, which in many cases is the default style that the Web browser will utilize in the task of displaying a particular web page in the absence of any other set of instructions. Of course more often than not, a web designer will probably provide any number of his own instructions that are embedded in the web page in question. The Cascading Style Sheet in this particular scenario will be tasked with dictating to the web browser which particular set of instructions will have top priority. The most commonly seen usage of this is in the fonts that are used for a web site. Even if your web browser is set to display web pages in a specific font and type size, say Arial narrow 10 points, the font size and family that is specified in the Cascading Style Sheet will take precedence overriding the default values that have been set in your browser. Cascading Style Sheet go far beyond font specifications however into the areas of XHTML and XML markup. This means that Cascading Style Sheets could be used to define the look of any XHTML and XML markup that you use in your web site. Clearly Cascading Style Sheets are one of the most powerful tools that any web designer can have in his or her arsenal and they can have a tremendous impact on the whole look and feel of a web site. If you are at all interested in becoming a professional web designer, a thorough knowledge of Cascading Style Sheets is crucial.

Analyzing your search engine competitors
Analyzing a competitor’s web site may seem like a big job. You should have the mindset that you are going to do this as a learning experience though. This will help you along your way when you may feel like giving up. Before you even begin to analyze a competitor’s web site you should make sure that you are equipped to do the job. If you do this job properly you can gain a lot of information that will help you to increase your site’s traffic and popularity. These sites can also help you to analyze your own market. After all, if a web site is getting a lot of hits then it must be doing something right. If you take time to see where it is ranked, what key words are being used, how the site is formatted, and what you can do to make your site better while not violating any copyright laws then you will be well on your way to success. The first thing that you need to do is identify who your major competitors are. The best place to do this is to look in Yahoo’s directory for large companies, innovative approaches and new products. While looking through this directory you should also try to identify any niche markets that your major competitors have not yet identified and exploited. When you find these new niches you will be set for traffic. Another thing that you should do while here is try to get your site listed. Little associations like this are important if you want to start to build up your traffic so that you can conquer a niche or category. Some other associations that you can build occur when you figure out where the big sites’ webmasters are hanging out and you start hanging out there too. Believe it or not, knowing the right people is going to make your business bigger and better. If you visit Media Metrix 500 you will be able to see what companies are getting the most traffic. Alexa will also teach you about relative traffic. They offer a free browser add-on that shows you how much traffic a site is getting. This will help you to see where your competitors fall in the pecking order. Once you have found your closest 5 or 10 competitors it is time to closely study them. You really can learn a lot by looking at and analyzing your competitors’ website. The main things that you should be looking for include: 1. Take a minute to see what products or services that they are offering. Make notes of anything that is different from what you are offering. If you see any gaps in what they have to offer think about whether or not you could possibly fill these gaps. 2. Think about how their website looks, feels and functions. 3. Look at the various advertisements they are offering. 4. Act as a client for a moment and think of where their strengths and weaknesses lie. 5. Spend some time trying to figure out their strategy. If one of your major competitors is s a publicly traded company then you can get detailed information from their SEC filings. Take a moment to jot down who their key players are so that you can read their interviews and speeches. These may also give you some insight into their website. Once you have gathered all of this information together you need to spend some time summarizing the information for each competitor. Make sure that you highlight their strengths, weaknesses and strategies. This will be useful as you become resourceful in countering and exploiting these sites’ weaknesses. You can also use this research in order to create a marketing plan. This should include what steps you intend to take in order to deal with this competition in such a way that your website comes out on top. Of course, you are also going to decide whether it is even worth competing with these sites or if you should try to find a market that is less saturated. Before you even get started with trying to analyze what your competitors do you should know that it might feel overwhelming when you see what the big companies online do. This should not intimidate you though. Instead it should encourage you to concentrate on customer satisfaction.

Affiliates in your strategy
Internet marketing today makes use of strategies and tools that business and industry has known for decades. They just tweak it for use on the World Wide Web. Neighborhood store keepers have always made it their business to know what the friends on their street were selling so they could send customers to the right place when inquires were made. Affiliate marketing essentially does the same thing. Viewers do a search (make an inquiry) about a product or service that you advertise on your web site, and your site carries an affiliate link that they click on to find what they’re looking for. You don’t actually sell the product yourself, but you tell your viewers where they can go to buy what they want. And then you get paid a commission for the sale. Like many new internet tools, affiliate marketing is relatively new. You don’t have to sell anything yourself; but you do need to know how to set up affiliates on your site. Most companies that offer affiliate services provide step-by-step instructions for creating the relationship; they make it easy for you because they want your help selling their product or service. The best news is that it doesn’t cost you a dime. Your only investment is your time setting up the links on your website. Business plans always require that you take a look at upfront costs in creating a new business. With affiliate marketing, those costs are avoided because the business that you are linked to have to do their own research and development; they have start-up costs to be prepared to begin selling their products/services. Another small cost for you is your time in either identifying affiliates with whom you want to work, or in finding affiliate programs that provide a list of links from which you choose ones you want on your site. Some sites do affiliate marketing exclusively. The sole purpose of a web page may be to provide links to other sites. You will need to add some copy to such a page to suggest why viewers may want to click on affiliate links. That is, you will need to identify the value of the product or service to the viewer in order for him/her to decide to become a customer or not. A couple of other factors are also important. Developing an extensive email address list and maintaining it becomes a crucial component of your affiliate marketing success. You will also need to drive traffic to your site, and we all know the value of writing articles for that purpose. It stands to reason that customers who are interested in what you write about will likely be more interested in purchasing products and services that you describe. Nobody enjoys hassles. So some more good news is that affiliate marketing is relatively hassle-free. You don’t have to sell products or services; you don’t have to keep track of sales or clicks; you are paid on a percentage basis, anywhere from 10% to 30% of actual sales completed and your affiliate-friend has to keep track of that information. Once your affiliate page is set up, the rest of your work is easy. Depending upon the affiliates you choose for your site, marketing on their behalf can be a fairly lucrative business.
